2 c. sifted flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 c. shortening 2/3 c. milk
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cream of tartar. Cut in shortening. Add milk, all at once, and stir until dough follows fork around the bowl. Place on floured surface and knead 8 or 10 times with heel of hand. Roll about 3/4 inch thick and cut. Bake at 425° about 15 minutes or till brown.
